Almost home

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

We don’t look pretty, but feel like champs:

Three girls, one Sprinter, few iPods loaded with a few hundred songs (some Croatian that have “special powers” :) , seven children awaiting return of their moms and two lonely husbands (Larissa really tried hard to make us take at least one detour or sightseing stop along the way… Cause she is single), 2,382 miles of great American roads, few cokes (we did it without Redbulls or Rockstars), all in mere 42 hours!

(could somebody please call in a quick “revival” massage for me? :)

Crossing the Mississippi river at dawn

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

31 hours after our departure from West Seattle, WA we crossed the Mississippi in beautiful Iowa.

Drive home…

Monday, March 29th, 2010

We drove all night long and arrived to Butte, MT in time for a “delicious an nutritious” egg mcmuffin breakfast :(

Since the dining room was closed and Sprinter didn’t make the height clearance, Larissa volunteered to get in drive through line. Here she is – being a white and blue ’79 Mustang. (phwew! We are really lucky to have such a multitalented girl on our team :)

Crossing the Puget Sound on a Ferry

Friday, March 26th, 2010

It’s beautiful and it reminds me of our summers in Croatia – crossing over to island Rab on a ferry…

Vancouver, British Columbia

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

I was nervous seeing my Dad’s friends Tvrtko and Angelo at tonight’s concert in Vancouver, BC… It still hurts so bad that I can’t hear his amazing voice and sing with him…

I am grateful to all my Croatian fans who came tonight and with their presence showed that they accept me for who I am now – older and different, but still singing the only way I’ve ever known how to: from my heart.

First run of Concerts In Seattle

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Seeing people we haven’t seen in six years (since last time we performed in Seattle area) made me really miss my boys… This is the place we used to tour in our ‘custom’ RV before Blais was even born. Dante and Evan enjoyed the Puget Sound… tirelessly throwing thousands of pebbles in :)

We really enjoyed seeing Fr. Harris in Shoreline, meeting Maria’s little ‘miracle’ baby girl and staying with her family (I met Maria in 1992 when she was in Zagreb studying folk dances with Lado); enjoying the view in Gig Harbor; meeting up with our friends Dori and Maria, Mike Thelen and Patti in Anacortes… And the weather was great too!

A Welcome from the Archbishop Brunnet

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Our host Rick Fersh (Executive Director of Development for theĀ Archdiocese of Seattle) and his wife Patti (who works closely with the Archbishop and Rick on Crosier Society) introduced me to Archbishop Brunnet. It was a beautiful way to begin our two weeks of concerts in Seattle. Tomorrow we begin!

Tuesday 3/16 – 7:15 am (PT) Morning Coffee

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Morning coffee at the original Starbuck. (thanks to Carol who pulled an “all nighter” :)

Well, we made it! With three days to spare.. (see? It pays off to stay away from all the wonderful and tempting shoe outlets along the way)

Tuesday – 3/16 4:30 am (PT)

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

We pulled up in Boise, ID little after midnight to find a hotel, but decided to keep going…. Starry starry night in Idaho… (they look bright, strong and… healthy)
