More Than Enough

more than enough

Last week I was in Columbus, OH performing a living room concert (watch in my Video Diary.)

I came back with this overwhelming sense of “more than enough”…

My hosts (and many of the people whom I talked to) all had this amazing peace about them – despite their own problems and struggles. They are hard-working people who live very modestly, but in my book they are some of the wealthiest people I know…

I was really moved that they brought me up for a concert. And I thought, they didn’t have to go to this extra expense to bring me up to do this concert for them.

But they did – they gifted it as a birthday gift to a friend – and as a way to send extra love and support for Matthew’s healing…

I also thought that this was a way of giving, healing, being together, allowing the Gifts they have been given to circulate (because only if they are shared they replenish… otherwise they are ‘buried’ in the ground and wasted.)

These people KNOW what is enough – they recognized that point where we have food, shelter, good friends and a job and can stop to enjoy our good lives…

They KNOW that there will always be MORE than enough of love, grace, compassion and support from community… so they can stop running after more, more and more…

Perhaps it’s because they came to America as refugees from the war in the former YU… and they know what suffering and true scarcity (of love) is…

Or perhaps it’s because they experienced generosity and compassion from others who also didn’t have much, but gave as if their source was limitless…

In any case, I am deeply grateful to them for reminding me of this GREAT TRUTH – that there is more than enough for our need… but never enough for our greed…
